Product Compliance Engineer – EU Drinking Water Directive

Our client designs and manufactures a range of high-quality bathroom / kitchen fixtures and fittings, sold to a variety of global markets.

They are seeking a Product Compliance Engineer to manage a project to ensure product compliance across their existing range for the upcoming EU Drinking Water Directive.

Role

Become SME on the EU Drinking Water Directive (DWD).

Communicate DWD requirements with key stakeholders, suppliers and designers.

Reviewing wetted parts information provided by design teams against DWD requirements and provide feedback on any changes required to meet the legislation.

Working with raw material manufacturers to obtain information on material compliance or non-compliance.

Obtaining/compiling final wetted parts information for 3rd party submission of assemblies and adding compliance details (such as material risk grouping).

Arranging 3rd party testing/evaluation/certification – including compliance applications, obtaining quotes, placing PO’s, progressing testing/certification, answering any queries and calculating & tracking costs.

Working with other teams such as suppliers, purchasing, QA & SQA, to ensure compliant materials are used, and the required evidence is obtained & maintained.

Working with the certifiers & suppliers to arrange required factory audits, participating in audits where appropriate.

Preparing required EU Declaration of Conformities and determining marking requirements.

Raising & progressing engineering change requests for product markings where applicable and working with various teams to ensure implementation.

Candidate

Engineering or Science degree or related education.

At least 5 years of related engineering product compliance experience including European water approvals, as well as legislation review. Candidates should have strong knowledge of EU DWD, German DVGW or UK DWI or WRAS approvals

Able to read product design drawings and technical documentation, with good materials knowledge.

Confident and credible knowledge of product compliance regulations & standards.

Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills, with a solutions focused mindset.

Strong communication skills with experience in presenting and translating data into decision-ready insights.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in a team environment.
