Laboratory Technician, Chemistry / Geochemistry / Geology

Salary c£27500 pro-rata 

Our client is a leading global chemicals company. An opportunity has arisen to join their laboratory team on a 6-month fixed term contract. The ideal candidate will have some knowledge and experience of a laboratory environment and associated systems of work including but not limited to COSHH and QAQC. However, this experience is not required as full training will be provided. 

Duties:

Preparing and analysing exploration drill core samples utilising crushing and grinding equipment.

Contributing to maintenance of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 within the laboratory.

Keeping the Laboratory Manager informed of laboratory problems on a day-to-day basis.

Developing good relationships with team members and internal customers.

Following method statements and risk assessments and demonstrating safe working practices when working alone or in a team.

Working with other laboratory staff to determine potential efficiency and performance improvements to workflows within the department.

Candidate:

Ability to handle large and heavy samples of drill core (~20 kg) on a regular basis.

Qualified to A-Level or above in Chemistry, Geology or related geoscience subject.

Some previous laboratory experience would be beneficial.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Proficient user of Microsoft Office and IT equipment.

COSHH assessment training (desirable).

IOSH Working Safely certificate (desirable).
