Technical Chemist - Cosmetics Job in West Yorkshire

Our client is an independent company that develops and manufactures a range of cosmetics and personal care products for the branded and white label markets. With a strong market position and continued success, they are now looking to recruit an experienced cosmetics industry professional as Technical Chemist. This is a key role within the business reporting directly to the senior management team and overseeing many functions within the company. 

Key areas:

New Product Development (NPD) – manage and oversee sample requests, pilot and initial production runs, raw material changes and inventory controls.

Quality Control – manage in-house testing as well as outsourcing specific tests to external laboratories; product specifications, certificates of analysis and formulation tool.

Regulatory and Compliance – keep updated with new legislation and communicate to staff, manage product safety assessments and PIP / PIF files as required.

Laboratory Health & Safety

Suppliers – maintain good relationships with all suppliers and external testing labs. 

Candidate:

Background in Chemistry with around 5 to 10 years formulation experience with cosmetics, personal care or health and beauty products.

Extensive relevant knowledge of NPD processes.

Strong Technical and Regulatory knowledge of cosmetic products including PIP / PIF, Certificates of Analysis etc.

SCS Diploma in Cosmetic Science.

Exceptional IT skills including Excel.

Good verbal communication skills, confident talking to suppliers and customers.

Possibly some supervisory / team leader experience.
