Supplier Management Engineer - Pharmaceuticals

Our client is a leading global technology company. Due to continued strong growth they are seeking an experienced candidate to manage the implementation of supplier management activities across Europe which incorporate the processes and systems to strengthen the global supply chain for their healthcare and pharmaceutical divisions. You will provide technical support to minimise unit cost and maximise quality, customer service and productivity, through the initiation of continuous improvement programmes. Working with the procurement team you will be take a leading role in supplier negotiations and management activities across the supply chain.

This role involves frequent overseas travel to visit suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Development and Deployment of Supplier Risk Management systems and processes.

Implementation of continuous improvement at suppliers through the use of 6 sigma methodology, including optimisation, validation and the development of control strategies for continued process improvement.

Support Supplier Quality Assurance, Sourcing and Operations departments on a technical and project implementation basis, including completion of supplier audits.

Support the Sourcing team in the identification, qualification and ongoing management of direct material suppliers.

Responsible for initiating, leading and managing supply, quality and cost/cash reduction or growth generation projects.

Lead and coordinate site investigations relating to critical or major non-conformances related to supplier quality or performance.

Coordination of operational, regulatory and commercial departments at global sites to resolve issues.


Degree or equivalent in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or Science.

Must have pharmaceutical industry experience, ideally technical experience within the Manufacturing functions of a pharmaceutical company focussed on either raw materials or packaging.

Foreign language skills beneficial but not essential.

Strong understanding of TQRDCEi, Risk Management, GMP, Quality System requirements, the ‘Orange Guide’ and equivalent FDA regulations.

Familiar with ISO9000 , ISO15378 and other supplier related standards.

Knowledge of a wide variety of pharmaceutical dosage forms including solid dose, liquids/creams, inhalation and sterile products, and their manufacturing requirements.

Knowledge of pharmaceutical supply chain and suppliers processes/equipment.

Six Sigma trained as Green Belt and knowledge of improvement tools e.g. Design of Experiments, FMEA, Cause and Effect analysis and other process investigational techniques.

Project management and product management.

Exceptional communication skills both verbally, and in writing.

Ability to explain technical matters to non-technical personnel.

Well organised, flexible approach and uses initiative.

£35 to 45k plus benefits
