SMT Process Development Engineer (Printable Electronics) in Durham

The position:

The successful candidate will be joining the client’s growing Printable Electronics Platform and will be responsible for developing work programmes for the prototyping of flexible printed electronic device technologies. The main focus will be establishing, implementing and embedding procedures and integration protocols for new products to meet client and project needs, which will involve extensive process development work.

Responsibilities:

Carry out assembly of printed electronics circuits using both hand and automated toolsets. These toolsets include (but are not limited to) -

  • Muehlbauer roll to roll integration line
  • Europlacer pick and place
  • DEK Horizon screen printer
  • Trotec Laser.

Preparation of the equipment and materials for trials.

Recording of process data and relevant observations.

Maintain responsibility for the overall process development of the assembly equipment to optimise performance and efficiency, to meet project deliverables.

Perform programming, troubleshooting and basic maintenance of integration equipment.

Consult with clients, business development and other departments to formulate estimates and resolve issues.

Qualifications and Experience:

At least HNC level (preferably a Degree) within a technical discipline

Industrial experience in hand and automated SMT assembly (Surface Mount Technology).

Experience in the use of conductive adhesives for device integration.

Technical expertise and problem solving.

Experience in:

  • Printable electronics technology
  • Industrial converting
  • Testing standards for electronic assemblies

Demonstrable record of successful project delivery in an operational environment.
