Senior Microbiology Lab Technician
Our client perform tests on a range of food products and food-related samples for their clients seven days a week. The testing work involves sample preparation before doing specific techniques to detect and/or count pathogenic (food poisoning) or food spoilage microorganisms within food, environmental or other samples.
Training and development opportunities are available for enthusiastic and proficient members of the team to progress their career in the group.
Weekend and Bank Holiday work will be required on a rota basis, normally one in four, either paid as overtime or taken as time off in lieu, therefore own transport is essential.
Microbiological testing of food samples including PCR and DNA based methods
Equipment maintenance duties
Perform confirmations when appropriate
Qualifications and Competencies:
1 – 2 A ‘levels in a scientific subject (or equivalent) or Degree in Microbiology related subject
Experience working in a microbiology laboratory for 2+ years
Knowledge of microbiological techniques relating to work carried out in the section.
