Research Scientist - Polymer Materials in Durham
Our client partners with companies who operate across many diverse markets including pharmaceuticals, speciality chemicals, food and drink, electronics and transportation, to translate inventions into products and processes that enhance health and well-being, protect and improve our environment and increase productivity across industries.
They are recruiting for a Research Scientist to prepare, test, develop, analyse and research elements in polymer materials science. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the technical delivery of projects and providing specific technical support to internal business teams.
Duties will include:
Contribute to the delivery of formulation projects through the provision of materials science knowledge, particularly with respect to the design and formulation of polymer materials, surface science and characterisation, and adhesion science;
Apply measurement techniques to characterise polymer, surface and adhesion properties;
Discussing project needs; set up, plan and execute scientific experiments and analyse, interpret and report results;
Provide clearly documented records of technical data, decisions, methodologies, calculations and software.
Graduate, MSc or PhD, in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science or Polymer Science.
A strong background in polymer chemistry, as well as experience in surface science and characterisation, or adhesion science, would be an advantage.
Significant, demonstrated laboratory experience in the characterisation of materials properties, and strong knowledge of formulating materials is essential, particularly in connection with adhesive and other polymer materials.
IT literate – use of Microsoft packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
