R&D Pilot Plant Chemist in Wales South
Our client is a global leader in the development of polymer resins for use in a wide range of applications for extraction, separation and purification. Due to continued expansion in their Life Sciences division they are now recruiting for an R&D Technician to work on laboratory and pilot plant activities.
Prepare samples and product stock as required for customer requests and orders at both lab and pilot scale. Assist in the development and scale-up of new polymer bead resin products.
Develop and implement, with the help of the Research and Development team, more efficient production procedures for scale-up of resin products to plant manufacturing.
Use the company’s technology for uniform polymer bead generation in producing specialty products at pilot scale.
An additional part of this hands-on role involves the setting up of technical instrumentation (such as framework set-up, valves, flow-meters, pipework/tubing, etc); hence some engineering background may prove advantageous, but training will be provided in this area.
A Degree in Chemistry or equivalent. Hands on project work at university.
Up to 2 years industrial experience is desirable, preferably within an R&D environment.
Experience in basic chemical experimental techniques is essential.
Experience of chemical manipulation and performing synthetic reactions related to polymer chemistry would be advantageous.
Experience of scaling up processes from laboratory to pilot scale desirable.
Self-motivated, methodical, and organised with excellent attention to detail and reporting/communication skills.
IT and mathematical skills.
