Production Manager – Scientific Instruments

Our client is a small and rapidly growing technology business which manufactures highly bespoke, custom and low volume digital instruments for scientific and space applications. Due to growth in the business and a number of exciting new projects coming onboard they are seeking to appoint a Production Manager.

Currently the business makes small numbers of highly complex, high value instruments with the numbers being supplied at very low volumes. However, they are moving towards supplying more standard products in larger volumes alongside the bespoke projects.

In this role you will be required to schedule all processes and use of facilities associated with the supply of the bespoke instruments and to manage the provision of parts for build by the production and development teams of the systems in a timely manner.

You will manage simultaneously multiple contracts to supply small numbers of complex systems, often on very short delivery times, so must be confident working under pressure to tight deadlines.

As the business grows, you will become responsible for a team of trained production operators working on higher volume projects.

Qualifications and Experience

Degree or relevant qualifications in physics, electronics or engineering.

Experience of scheduling production in a similar technical manufacturing environment.

Background in product assurance processes.

Experience of using SAP Business One in a production environment desirable but not essential.

Experience in building products for space applications would be an advantage.

Highly organised and with a focus on efficient working practices.

Time management.

Working as part of a team and also ability to manage a team.

High attention to detail and quality at all times.
