Post Doctoral Research Physicist Job in Cambridgeshire

As an applied physicist in the high thermal conductivity materials team, you will develop processes for the fabrication of new thermally conductive composites and evaluate their thermal and physical properties towards meeting technical requirements. ?You will evaluate their structure-property relationships and make recommendations for improvements and the tailoring of specifications to application requirements.  The role will involve working within an interdisciplinary team of chemists, physicists and material scientists, and collaboration with the Intellectual Property team and external Open Innovation partners.

You should have a PhD in Applied Physics or Material Science, or alternatively a Physical Sciences degree coupled with relevant industrial work experience.  You must have a track record in the development and/or evaluation of material properties to achieve a desired target and be able to add value to our research with the successful development of new materials and composites with high thermal conductivity. ?Experience of working with composite materials, and the processes to form, them is highly desirable as would be experience of incorporating materials into device structures to demonstrate the desired functional properties.

We offer a fantastic holiday allowance (27 days for full time employees), bank holidays, an additional day off to celebrate your birthday and a day off for you to undertake voluntary work aligned with our values.  In addition, we have flexi-time and home-working arrangements. Where appropriate, we will cover the costs of relocation support if you require this in order to work with us.

We also offer all the usual benefits you would expect, including private health and dental insurance, life assurance, income protection insurance, an Employee Assistance Programme and a pension scheme.   It goes without saying that our salaries are also pretty good, supported by a generous sign-on bonus to welcome you and help ease the move.
