Post Doctoral Biochemist in Cambridgeshire
We are looking for a Biochemist, as a Post-Doctoral Researcher, interested in the next generation of fluorescent markers for biological applications. This is a 2 year fixed term contract.
In this role, you will provide a strong scientific contribution to the development of fluorescent nanoparticles. You will be involved in the functionalisation of the surface of nanoparticles and the attachment of biological receptors including small molecules and proteins for recognition of specific biomarkers in a number of biological labelling applications. You will evaluate the potential and optimise the performance of bio-functionalised fluorescent nanoparticles for end-use applications.
You will hold a Biochemistry or Chemistry PhD or alternatively a degree with equivalent relevant research experience gained in an industrial or academic environment. Extensive experience of surface chemistry and / or functionalisation of nanoparticles or surface attachment of bio-molecules (for example, antibodies, DNA) is an essential requirement. In addition, experience in one or more of the following areas would be highly desirable:
Biological assays (for example ELISA, micro-array, cell labelling or flow cytometry).
Synthesis and characterisation of nanoparticles.
Knowledge of fluorescent materials (for example small molecule dyes, quantum dots or light-emitting polymers).
