Physicist / Engineer - Biosensors

Our client currently requires a Scientist to support its early and higher Technology within the Technology Development in the development of biosensors.

You will work on developing point of use diagnostic devices for the sensing of a variety of analytes and will be responsible for devising technical plans, new fabrication processes and device architectures in order to meet technical requirements.

In this role you will fabricate and characterise prototype point of use diagnostic devices and develop novel methods in order to attain enhanced performance. Through the use of a wide range of standard and novel techniques, you will fabricate devices in a cleanroom and laboratory facilities.

You will be expected to construct experiment designs and technical plans, analyse results, formulate sound hypotheses, draw conclusions and propose recommendations.

Person:

You will hold a PhD, or equivalent, in Physics or Engineering and have experience of conducting scientific research in the field including some device development and optimisation.

You will have a proven track record of successfully applying clear and logical approach to technical problem solving. In addition, you will have experience of device physics, including optics and electronics, and examples of having developed and/or optimised novel device structure and sensing strategies.

Prior experience of immunoassay and/or molecular diagnostic biosensors, having developed devices and experience of characterising their performance would be an advantage but not essential as would experience of device fabrication in a cleanroom environment.
