Our client has over 30 years’ experience as an independent UKAS accredited laboratory providing chemical analysis and consultancy to the construction industry including tests for aggregates, paint, gypsum plasters and water for concrete.
There is an opportunity to join their dedicated team as Technical Delivery & Quality Manager which is a key role for the efficient running of the laboratory with respect to sample receipt, customer and supplier liaison, general organisation including purchasing, reporting results to clients and invoicing, and support with health, safety and welfare responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Creating and writing test reports for clients. On occasion some interpretation of results within the bounds of the British Standards used for the chemical analysis.
Preparing quotes for clients, which can include selecting analytical methods for clients where required.
The control, maintenance and development of the quality management system.
Liaising with external certifying/accreditation bodies to facilitate annual/periodic audits.
Acting as the Company representative / lead auditor for 2nd and 3rd Party audits.
Driving the continual improvement process.
Instigating Management System Reviews.
Overseeing the creation of technical and non-technical training records for staff.
Providing staff development and training in relation to quality, including mentoring the Deputy Quality Manager and Laboratory Manager.
Providing support, guidance and training to all internal auditors.
Overseeing the annual staff appraisal process.
Be responsible for the evaluation, assessment and approval process for external providers.
Candidate:
Science Degree or higher, preferably in Chemistry.
A minimum of 5 years proven laboratory experience, preferably in a construction analysis industry or related area.
A minimum of 2 years of proven quality management experience in a UKAS laboratory environment.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Motivated and well organised. Professional.
Ability to manage a team as well as to work independently in order to meet customer deadlines.
Excellent communicator.
Helpful and customer focused approach to work.
Flexible and adaptable to operational needs.
Able to follow health and safety procedures at all times.
