Laboratory Operational Support Supervisor in Devon and Cornwall
The Laboratory Operational Support Team handles samples at all stages of their life cycle. The team also provides all the supportive, non-analytical, functions for the laboratory.
As part of this team you will help to deliver a wide-ranging workload to specific timescales with the main areas of responsibility being laboratory support and sample registration.
Duties may include:
Supporting various Laboratory sections and Scientists to deliver their analysis programme.
Working closely with Facilities, Laboratory, Customer Services and Bottle Dispatch colleagues to achieve shared outcomes and goals.
Collecting and analysing trends in work to improve efficiencies.
Planning and implementing projects to deliver ad-hoc assignments alongside routine work.
Manage consumable stock levels for the laboratory.
Helping to manage and plan the work of more junior team members.
Previous experience working in a laboratory support environment an advantage.
Understanding of sample accessioning processes, sample reception, registration etc.
Awareness of laboratory quality control procedures and the team’s role in ensuring these are maintained.
Exceptional communication skills are essential.
Ability to develop good relationships with colleagues and customers.
Able to manage workload and resources efficiently.
Customer focused, has attention to detail and problem solving skills.
Able to work under your own initiative and also as part of a team to make decisions and achieve targets.
Good organisational skills and an ability to use MS Office. Experience using LIMS would be an advantage.
