Laboratory Assessor in Gloucestershire

The company provide scientific, technical and legislative support to the food, drinks and allied industries worldwide. There is an opening as a Laboratory Assessor to work with the company’s accreditation scheme, as well as other audit schemes. Duties and responsibilities include accurately assessing the status of laboratory operations (management and technical areas) and giving valid/defendable recommendations on accreditation/approval. Furthermore, you would be required to accurately review and comment on technical content of methods and suitability of supporting in house validation data and QC checks in relation to intended use. You would also need to accurately assess suitability of actions to address findings raised by assessments and provide constructive feedback. The job requires a substantial amount of travelling, mainly in the UK although it may involve some overseas travel. The hours are 8.45am to 5.15pm, but this does not apply to audit days.

Requirements
-qualifications and up to date knowledge and experience with food microbiology
-experience and understanding of the management and technical requirements in ISO 17025 and/or CLAS standard
-experience with planning and conducting in house method evaluations/validations, appraising data and compiling validation reports
-trained in the principle of auditing with previous proven experience of auditing quality systems against recognised standards (preferably within laboratory operations)
-practical knowledge of specific retailer requirements for microbiology laboratories would be desirable, but not essential
-a full, clean UK driving licence
