Junior Software Engineer in Leicestershire
Our client is a scientific equipment manufacturer specialising in metrology instrumentation for the environmental sector. Due to continued growth and expansion they are now seeking a Junior Technical Support Engineer with strong skills and focus on software engineering and programming. In this role you will be responsible for creating and testing complex software programs to run on a range of dataloggers, for the capture, post processing and dissemination of data from both digital and analogue sensors / devices. You will also deliver technical support for the company’s systems and equipment, to both external customers and internal stakeholders.
Main duties will include:
Write, test and support complex datalogger programs to interact with a variety of analogue and digital sensors at varying frequencies and scan rates. The programming will require the creation of CR basic programs to interact with different sensors, protocols and the creation of quality control methodology and application within the program.
Provide pre-sales technical support for the sales engineers including but not limited to product recommendations, program solutions and system design.
Provide customer technical support via phone, web, and e-mail for the company’s products and systems.
Understand and be able to troubleshoot a variety of communications methods and protocols such as ethernet, serial, satellite, radio and cellular.
Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or related graduate.
1-2 years of experience in a technical environment or fresh graduate with a relevant placement.
Previous experience in working with instrumentation and instrument communication protocols.
Proven experience in writing and testing software programs using C++ / BASIC and / or PLC programming / configuration.
You will also be an excellent communicator and be adept at delivering complex and technical information to a non-technical audience.
