Location: London Road, Derby

Salary: £25,000

Full time, permanent

Working for one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of single use, sterile Medical Devices and Custom Procedure Packs.

To provide and support effective compliance and communication on HSE related issues within the Company. The role will assist the company in achieving its business objectives and revenue targets by being responsible for the implementation, development and continual improvement in the company’s HSE management processes.


Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the HSE manager the successful candidate will provide inputs and outputs to:

  • Ensure adherence to HSE policies and procedures and help to establish new policies and procedures or guidelines.
  • Help facilitate general Risk Management best practice within the management structure.
  • Risk Assessment and Safe System of Work management, including facilitating and mentoring.
  • Accident reporting and investigation management, including reporting of RIDDOR’s where required.
  • Review/analyse accident/incident records to identify patterns or trends, document findings and provide input regarding necessary action.
  • Contractor management audits and checks.
  • Health and Safety Committee management.
  • COSHH management, including facilitating and mentoring COSHH risk assessments and training.
  • Environmental aspects and impacts management, including packaging and energy metric reporting.
  • Training groups of people or training management experience.
  • Provide HSE input to monthly management reports.
  • Facilitating or aiding HSE inspections with internal or external stakeholders.
  • Managing containment of system nonconformities or deviations from HSE requirements.
  • Devising corrective action plans in response to internal or external inspection or audit findings.
  • Assist in the Quality Assurance function as appropriate. (Following training).
  • Other duties as necessary to support the operations of the HSE Department.


Education / Qualifications

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or higher.
  • Professional Body membership.
  • NVQ level 3 or higher in a work associated topic.
  • Environmental management qualification or demonstrable experience (desired)

  • LEAN manufacturing experience.
  • Project management skills.
  • Good interpretation skills of data using statistics.
  • Quality or internal auditing experience.
  • ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 13485 working experience.
  • Experience of Project Management and techniques.
