Downstream Processing Applications Scientist in Wales South
Our client is seeking an applications scientist to a join a team providing internal and external expertise in column chromatography and downstream processing of biopharmaceuticals.Downstream Processing Applications Scientist
The ideal candidate will be well skilled in downstream protein purification by column chromatography and associated impurities analysis (ELISA, HPLC, UV/vis).
The role involves managing complex projects working closely with customers, management, sales and other research/technical staff with regular reporting in oral and written formats. The role involves writing papers for scientific publications with the potential for presenting at industry relevant conferences internationally. Additionally, the role may involve international travel to support customers and the commercial team.
The Candidate: Applications Scientist
Degree in chemistry, materials, biochemistry or related subject.
Comprehensive knowledge or experience of downstream processes including different chromatographic materials
Experience in the use and testing of chromatography resins including extensive use of FPLC instruments
Experience in method development
Ability to write scientific and technical reports as well good oral presentational skills with a proven track record of scientific publications
Be able and willing to handle hazardous chemicals according to documented H&S documentation and processes
Use of MS office, project management tools, scientific computer software including DoE
PhD degree in chemistry, materials, biochemistry or related subject.
Knowledge of upstream processing in the biopharmaceutical industry
Experience in resin screening and process development programmes
Experience in large scale column packing.
At least 2 years industrial experience
Knowledge of appropriate H&S legislation and industry standards including ISO9001/14001/OHAS 18001.
