Business Development Manager - Biopharmaceuticals

Our client is a leading company offering testing and development services for Biosimilars. Their team of expert scientists have extensive experience in Biosimilar analysis and testing services for the global biopharmaceutical industry and offer an integrated service to support biosimilar development including cell line development, upstream process development, off-the-shelf biological analysis, physicochemical and structural analyses, cell bank characterization and cell bank manufacture. Due to continued growth and global demand they are now seeking a Business Development Manager to join their Sales and Marketing Team.

The main function of the role is to drive the development of new business opportunities across all of the different business units, acting as a primary point of contact for new customers and business opportunities, and being responsible for managing the proposal generation and contract process.   


Develop and implement a sales plan to grow revenues in a clearly defined market.

Meet with customers, conduct presentations, initiate and communicate proposals to customers and negotiate with customers to achieve a successful resolution.

Act as liaison between the customer and the functional areas of the business. 

Present information at internal and customer meetings.

Manage multiple customers’ projects and proposals to completion.

Prepare information as needed for customer meetings and discussions with management, including status, tracking and financial reports.

Represents the company at conferences and meetings as required.


Degree in life sciences or equivalent with relevant practical experience.

Previous experience, or a strong ability to work effectively as a Business Development Manager within the biopharmaceutical industry. 

Strong understanding of the drug development process and ideally knowledge of the Biosimilar market. 

Excellent communication skills - articulate, personable, and confident when dealing with Clients both in face to face meetings and over the phone.  

This is predominantly a client facing role, and the candidate must be capable of managing senior client relationships on a daily basis.

A high level of IT competence is required including experience of working with Microsoft Office.

Comfortable working as part of a team, whilst being independent and happy to work with little supervision.

Strong planning, organisational and sales negotiation skills.

Available to travel up to 50% within UK and Europe.

£35,000 to £50,000
up to £45k plus bonus
