Business Developer - High Technology in Cambridgeshire

Our client currently requires a Business Developer to identify and develop business opportunities for High Technology projects.  This will involve early stage project incubation and progression, in conjunction with our clients scientific team, and will also support the wider activities of the Business Development group.

 

In this role you will identify enterprises that our client may want to build a relationship with to accelerate development of technologies and business opportunities.  You will understand specific partner and general industry needs and undertake competitive analysis and business strategy development.  In addition, you will provide clear justifications of the rationale for working with potential partners.

 

Contacting and building relationships with key individuals within target enterprises to reduce time from research concept to commercialisation, you will act as a bridge between the customer/partner and technical teams.  You will use primary and secondary business trend and market research skills and knowledge to help identify new materials and device based opportunities, applications and product areas that fit within our clients business aspirations.  You will also maintain the content on the website with input from technical teams where appropriate.

 

Person:

 

You will hold a first degree in a Physical Science or Engineering discipline and will have significant experience in business development roles within a materials, chemical, scientific or technical industrial sector. 

 

In addition, you must have demonstrable experience of identifying, analysing and creating plans to exploit new market opportunities for an organisation and initiating, developing and maintaining relationships with 3rd party enterprises.

 

You will have strong internal and external networking skills and a track record of utilising networks to benefit an organisation. 

You must be an excellent communicator, including report writing and presentation skills, and have the ability to communicate business and market concepts in a technology focused business to both senior management and technical audiences. 

Experienced in supporting general corporate Marketing communications activities, you must have the enthusiasm and drive to understand market, business and technical aspects of new technologies and opportunities.
