Application Scientist – Biocatalysis
Our client is a global leader in the use of resin technology for pharmaceutical applications such as active pharmaceutical ingredients, excipients and water treatment media, extraction and purification of enzymes, hormones, alkaloids, viruses, antibiotics, and treatment of fermentation products.
They are seeking a qualified and experienced scientist to join their team as Applications Scientist to work specifically on developing methods for the immobilisation of enzymes, and the subsequent scale up of these methods to pilot plant scale. A key part of the role will involve developing relevant analytical methods to evaluate the performance of the immobilized enzymes.
You will work closely with R&D and Commercial teams for product development and customer interactions, produce technical reports to present internally and externally and represent the company at major conferences.
Degree in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical engineering. A PhD would be desirable.
Experience in chromatographic techniques, such as HPLC/UPLC/FPLC, GC and analytical techniques, such as UV/Vis, IR, and wet chemistry techniques.
Good understanding of proteins and enzymes, ideally from industry experience.
Experience in performing enzymatic biocatalytic / enzyme immobilisation processes would be an advantage.
Knowledge of scale-up / pilot plant desirable.
Knowledge or experience working in a regulated laboratory environment.
Self-motivated, organised and excellent attention to detail.
Ability to work both in a team and independently.
Strong communication skills are essential.
