Analytical Chemistry Team Leader in Devon and Cornwall

Temporary initially until end of March 2021 but likely to be extended long term.

To supervise the activities of a team of specialised technical staff within the Inorganic Analytical Team.  The Laboratory carries out analytical work as necessary to provide a high quality, efficient and cost effective analytical service customers.  Maintain appropriate specialised knowledge in state-of-the-art equipment, technology and methodology. Ensure quality control procedures are followed, maintaining methods and associated documentation to ensure ISO/IEC17025 accreditation is maintained.

The lab analyses of Environmental samples accredited to ISO/IEC17025. The team analyses environmental samples for inorganic analysis by a range of different techniques and instrumentation. The lab has a high sample throughput.

You will be a Team Leader in a small team with varying backgrounds and knowledge. There will be a requirement to train staff, and it will be necessary to comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.  Occasional Saturday working will be required.

You will demonstrate the key capabilities of communication, customer focus, decision making, delivery of work, planning, problem solving and teamwork.

Colour Chemistry

Wet Chemistry Techniques

You will be involved Supervision of sample preparation, and the analysis of samples, together with some hands on analysis.  You will be involved in reporting results.

Person:

Experience in a commercial Laboratory in a similar role.

Available to start Mid December / Early January.

Chemistry Degree or closely related.
