Analytical Chemist - Method Development Specialist
Our client is a leading contract research organisation for the agrochemical and life science sectors offering a range of laboratory and regulatory services to support product registration. Due to continued growth and expansion they are now seeking a qualified and experienced Analytical Chemist to work in their Pesticide Residues team as a Method Development Specialist.
In this role you will provide analytical support to the development of analytical methods across various research and study groups and act as a residue team resource and technical expert for extraction and analytical methodology. You will optimise extraction conditions, solve analytical challenges, develop methods and document analytical conditions suitable for guideline compliant validations, and train, mentor, develop and manage junior technical staff to perform varying tasks on these studies.
BSc, MSc or PhD in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
A minimum of five years’ experience developing extraction methods for the determination of low-level small molecules, ideally within industry.
Have extensive experience extracting analytes from a diverse array of complex matrices.
Possess experience of LC-MS/MS and GC-MS method development and troubleshooting to optimise methods and identify and solve sources of poor analytical performance.
Possess experience developing the extraction and analytical conditions for new molecules for analysis by LC-MS/MS and GC-MS.
Can confidently troubleshoot instrument faults and solve instrument breakdowns.
Experience in a wide range of analytical techniques such as LC-MS/MS, GC/MS and HPLC-UV.
Ability to plan and conduct a schedule of studies to a high standard.
Experience of working in a customer focussed, commercial environment.
Proven ability to train technical staff to high standards.
Able to present complex findings to a diverse audience through a variety of media and platforms.
