Analytical Chemist in Nottinghamshire


Reporting to the Research Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for:

Supervision and training of personnel including laboratory technician/apprentice.

Design, development and validation of HPLC/UPLC methods for pharmaceutical analysis.

Development, verification and use of other relevant analytical methods as applied to the study of

pharmaceutical products for example: Capillary electrophoresis, UV-vis spectroscopy, Infrared

spectroscopy, pH measurement; sub visible particle analysis by the method of light obscuration or

dynamic light scattering.

Maintaining a small-scale research tissue culture master cryo-bank for tissue samples. Support from

other colleagues is available, but a willingness to undergo additional training if required and overall

responsibility for maintenance of the cryo-bank is required.

Ensuring instruments are calibrated/maintained and compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g.


Timely completion of stability studies working to tight deadlines and producing high quality data.

Writing up of experimental data, maintaining a laboratory note book to GLP standards and generation of scientific reports based on the research undertaken for clients.

Writing and updating analytical methods, work instructions and standard operating procedures within the laboratory.



Competence in working autonomously and independently, managing and prioritising own workload and working across multiple projects simultaneously.

A proven track record in the development, validation and application of HPLC/UHPLC methods

(essential) and immune and or binding assays (desirable) designed for the analysis of biological based pharmaceutical molecules.

A proven track record of writing SOP’s.

Experience of writing appropriate COSHH and Risk Assessments and compliance with Health & Safety regulations.

Experience of working to GLP and/or GMP.

Previous experience of working within a MHRA accredited laboratory would be highly desirable.

Ability to evidence management of laboratory personnel.

Some willingness to develop knowledge of handling tissue culture would be desirable.

Good communication and customer facing skills.

A willingness to obtain a DBS check (from time to time company employs summer workers, and

provide Work Experience placements for students.)
