Senior Forensic Toxicology in London area

Hours- Full time. Some weekend work (1 in 4 with time off in lieu)

 This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced analyst to join our client’s Forensic Toxicology lab in West London. The Senior Forensic Toxicology Analyst will supervise, delegate and review analytical activities of analysts to ensure that analyses of casework items are carried out in a timely manner to quality standards. 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

•             Analyse casework samples using immunoassay techniques, GC, LC and MS and other techniques, within agreed timelines.

•             Ensure analytical data conforms to quality standards by reviewing results.

•             Supervise routine maintenance of analytical instrumentation and advice on remedial action. 

•             Assist with supervision and training as appropriate.

•             Assist in the generation of SOPs relevant to the toxicology department, ensuring that current versions are available.

•             Monitor quality issues and implement any remedial actions required.

•             Design and carry out method development projects and validation studies.

•             Assist with the identification of alternative analytical methods and/or equipment to improve efficiency and maximise throughput of testing within the laboratory.

•             Carry out performance appraisals with individual team members.

•             Deputise for Laboratory Services Manager.

 

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills

•             In depth knowledge of sample preparation techniques including liquid/liquid and solid phase extraction.

•             In depth knowledge of instrumental analysis using GC, LC and MS instruments.

•             Previous analytical experience within industry.

•             Competent in instrument maintenance, method development and validation. 

•             Previous line management experience.
