Forensic Toxicology Team Leader in London area

Senior Forensic Toxicology Analyst required to manage a team of 5 or 6 Analysts, carry out method development and validation, review analytical data and monitor quality assurance within the laboratory.  

Responsibilities:

Analyse samples using immunoassay techniques, GC, LC and MS and other techniques.

Ensure analytical data conforms to quality standards by reviewing results.

Supervise routine maintenance of analytical instrumentation and advice on remedial action. 

Manage a team of 5 or 6 Analysts and assist with training as appropriate.

Review and update SOPs relevant to the toxicology department, ensuring that current versions are available.

Monitor quality issues and implement any remedial actions required.

Design and carry out method development projects and validation studies.

Assist with the identification of alternative analytical methods and/or equipment to improve efficiency and maximise throughput of testing within the laboratory.

Candidate:

Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry or related with a background in Toxicology or Forensic Analysis. Other experience such as Pharmaceutical, Bioanalysis or Environmental Analysis may also be considered.

5 years relevant industry experience.

In depth knowledge of sample preparation techniques including liquid/liquid and solid phase extraction.

In depth knowledge of instrumental analysis using GC-MS and LC-MS techniques.

Competent in routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.

Experience of method development and validation using GC or LC instruments. 

Team Leader or supervisory experience.

Security clearance will be required for this role. To gain security clearance you must have three years continuous residency in the UK prior to the application. Criminal convictions may also prevent you from gaining security clearance.
