Experimental Physicist / Chemist - Ion Mobility in Hertfordshire

Scientific support and input to Technology and Product Development (T&PD) projects covering:

Instrument and Experimental design,

Planning and execution of experiments,

Analysis of data,

Modelling,

Formulation and presentation of conclusions

Report writing

Responsibilities: 

Provide scientific input to the design, build and testing of experimental equipment.

Plan and conduct original research for the purposes of design and performance enhancement.

Critically appraise experimental data and theory and provide guidance based on interpretation of data.

Resolve highly complex technical issues

Identifies gaps and proposes additional work.

Contribute to project planning and review activities.

Support scientific aspects of products throughout their lifecycle.

Work in accordance with the health and safety culture and promote safe working practices at all times.

Effective liaison with other T&PD team members within the Technology Department and other departments.

Provide support to off-site trials and tests.

To provide hands-on support and up-to-date technical advice to Technical Authorities, Programme and Product Managers, at proposal, design specification, development, testing and production stages and assist in bid preparation.

Present data and concepts in an effective manner to a diverse audience.

Person:

Post Graduate Degree in Physics, Physical Chemistry or Egnieering

Knowledge of Ion Mobility

Knowledge of Gas phase, especially in sensing particles in gas phase
