Business Development Manager in Middlesbrough

The Role

My client has an exciting opportunity for a Business Development Manager to join its existing team.  This role is to manage and promote Business Development in line with the company’s Biologics technical and commercial strategy.

The successful candidate will attract partners and clients to the NBMC by networking, promoting, selling to and working closely with technical and commercial personnel. You will identify new opportunities, develop them into active projects and provide excellent customer relationship management. The successful candidate will be expected to raise the profile of the National Biologics Manufacturing Centre through targeted networking and attendance at a range of events.

This role will involve travel, focussed primarily on opportunities within the London/Cambridge/Oxford biotechnology clusters and in other regions as and when required. The successful candidate would need to be in possession of a full UK driving licence. The successful candidate will be expected to regularly work at the NBMC and across other sites depending on business needs (Sedgefield and Wilton).

The Person

Candidates must be educated to degree level in a life sciences or related discipline and have broad experience in an industrial setting operating in a technical and/or commercial function, particularly within a biologics-related sector.  Building on this experience, candidates will be expected to be able to engage clients, understand their technical challenges, translate the Company’s technical offering and in turn manage the formation of innovative R&D projects.

The recruit will have excellent client management and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with technical and commercial leads within the Company.  The successful candidate will also be able to generate win: win value propositions with project partners.
